Living close by, one of my semi-weekly pleasures is getting food from here, picking it up after grocery shopping at Safeway, and taking it home to devour my faves - goat curry, lamb rogan josh, palak paneer, samosa chaat, basmati rice and a variety of naan! This locally owned business has great and efficient service. Yes, there is limited seating indoors, but that’s because people mostly takeout. The owner is very kind. This is the best, unpretentious food of its kind in D.C.
Great kabob and the naan bread was awesome
The name of the place was the main attraction at first (we even asked why the name and the reason why is to mark that the meat is Halal). The quality of the dishes did not disappoint. I was happy with my vegetarian dish (okra or lady fingers, in a wonderful spicy mix), and my friends liked their chicken and goat (!) stews. The dal was also very good. A definite recommendation.
Don’t let the name scare you away...this place is an absolute gem! I went for lunch during a busy work day. My food was prepared quickly and the perfect temperature when it was delivered to my table. I was a little nervous about the sauces on the chicken wrap as I’m usually not a big fan of cilantro but I took the advice of the gentleman who took my order and was blown away. The chicken was tender and well seasoned which complemented the house sauce that was on the wrap. Everything tasted very fresh and was the perfect amount of food for lunch. Not too heavy and not so light that I’ll need to eat again in an hour. I will definitely be back.
Holy $@#&, this food was amazing! The place is clearly a less than stellar looking basement remodel, but the food they are putting out is pure gold!
What a disappointment.I ordered from Sacrificial Lamb through Eat24. The food was barely warm. It’s 4 minutes by car or 3 minutes by bike from the restaurant to the hotel I was at. I really like Indian Butter Chicken but not from this restaurant. The Butter Chicken from Sacrificial Lamb had no taste to it. It looked the right color, I don’t know where the flavor was hiding. The texture was right for chicken but it was horribly bland. I ordered Garlic Naan and Kashmiri Naan, both room temperature and lacking taste. The real insult was the $2.95 Rass Malai. I thought it was a small cup with some type of condiments at first. It was a portion for a Hobbit with a gastric bypass, it was gone in two wanting bites.I wouldn’t recommend eating at this restaurant. This is probably my most negative review on Yelp.
There is almost no place to sit if you wanna dine in. There are like 3 mini tables with 8 chairs, that's it! Gets overcrowded if more than 4 people come in. The disposable plates they give you are either very small or they fill them way too much. The food is absolutely disappointing. I came here to eat authentic pakistani/indian food and it definitely was not. The service is okay. The overwhelming positive reviews are very misleading.
Very tiny small size restaurant, Not much sitting space available. When comes to food it can compete with any big Indian Pakistani cuisine.Excellent taste wonderful customer service.Street parking.
Went to this place during a business-trip to DC. The delivered food was super delicious and prices are very reasonable. We got great portions and the staff is very kind and friendly! I would definitely recommend this place!
Great food and great service
Delivery was so fast and the food was bomb. Definitely my new favorite Indian joint.
This is one of my favorite go to places in dc. Super fair prices, with great portions, and even better tasting food! The staff is very kind and friendly, would definitely recommend.
Normally great but when the order is wrong I expect them to fix it.
Great Pakistani and Indian takeout. Excellent service and delivery
Love this place! Excellent prices, best naan I’ve ever had
Flavor is amazing here. My kids and I got 3 different dishes, shrimp, lamb, and chicken and all of it amazing! Must try! And the staff is polite and courteous.
Mr. Omar is a wonderful man who has introduced me to new flavors. This is a small business, with big flavors and bold tastes. I love the curry chicken, spinach, and chickpeas with raita. They have lunch specials before 3pm, but the price is so reasonable for this area it doesn't matter either way. The naan is made fresh and.the restaurant is clean and fresh smelling. They offer drinks as well. Can't wait to visit again.
I ordered only one item. They still got my order wrong...very wrong. And then they told me to ask Uber Eats for a refund. I will not be ordering from them again.
I am visiting from Texas and saw this place and after looking at the reviews I am so glad I did! It is a lower level small restaurant. It is not wheelchair accessible. But on the the most important part, the FOOD. Holy cow! The gyro was soooooo good. The bread was pillowy soft, the veggies fresh and crunchy, and the meat was plentiful, flavorful, and tender. One of the best gyros I have ever eaten.I god a salad for more veggies because it is hard to get veggies when traveling. It was a large side salad with tomatoes, lettuce, purple cabbage, and cucumbers. A good size for the price. The baclava was a little disappointing as it was dense but not bad. The locals eat here, the food is great and the gyro wrap is worth trying for sure!
My first time trying this type of food, ohhhh it was soooooooooo good.
Great food! Are you kidding me with bad reviews. Ok here’s a hint, if they can’t spell It’s a great indicator that they’ve no taste... you can tell when it’s not a typo. Yum yum yum is my review.
Best gas in dc, no cap. Lamb gyro is the way to go
Ordered the lamb kabob with rice. Got chicken and no rice, with a sad little side salad. The chicken wasn’t even that good.
Just moved from NYC to DC and was looking for a good Indian place. This is it! The food was excellent, authentic, and well priced. I highly recommend.
The meat was too old and hard to even eat!! So sad to have this low quality resturant in this area.
Oh my goodness this place is delicious. On our first visit (definitely not our last!) we were the only customers the man behind the counter didn't know by name and order. Everything was delicious. The palak paneer was some of the best I've ever had and the lamb korma hit the spot. However, the star of our meal was the naan. It is fluffy is the best way and deserving of the claim "best naan in DC"
Lamb kabob was tough and a bit dry. Only 4 chunks of meat. Not very good value at $13. Chicken tikka masala was standard or below average
This site is my first choice restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. when I want to go to a decent meal, this is the place that comes straightaway to my head. good and all kinds of food and a large list of dishes.professional team, and great ambience. Also, the charge is reasonable. I recommend this spot with no doubt.
Excellent variety, very flavorful, good value for the price. Fellow at the counter was very kind. Highly recommend, especially for vegetarian options! Outside seating made this a lovely and relaxing lunch spot.
this place is a no go. they are not friendly towards people with food allergies. I spoke with someone over the phone who thought the concept itself was foreign. If you have a shellfish allergy or wheat allergy, avoid this place. they're not patient with you on this, and will give you a hard time and act as if you are speaking non-sense.
I don't know what people are talking about regarding portion sizes... for the price it is more than enough. The food was pretty good, we were visiting DC from NY for New Year's, must say I wasn't disappointed. One advice for the owner/chef, with the appetizers, you guy should also provide the tamarind chutney (brown sauce) not just the chili/mint chutney by itself (green chutney). Tandoori chicken was very flavorful and the biryani portions were plentiful. Def worth the price.
Nice neighborhood place for Indo-pak takeout. Make sure to get some of the garlic naan - it’s really well done.
Friendly people, was the food was good. I asked for a Spicy shrimp Briyani and was not disappointed at all. loved it.
Delicious! I tried the tomato soup, the goat saag, and mango lassi. I liked it all! The goat was really tender... Just too many bones in it for my liking (it was a little messy to eat). However, I know they keep the bones in for flavor. The soup also had a good flavor and a generous portion for a few bucks. And they deliver for free on GrubHub. I recommend it if you're staying downtown DC.
Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. It was truly the worst Indian food we have ever had. The beef was inedible it was so tough. The chicken tika masala was super bland. I don't write many reviews for restaurants... only the occasional "wow! that was fantastic" or "Gosh, that was horrible." This was the latter.
As an Indian person that likes to cook, I often find Indian restaurants crazy over priced and overly spiced. I ordered delivery and was impressed by the goat, very tender, as well as the lamb wrap. Delicious and moderately priced!
Best place for naan wraps in the city!
Really delicious, and the owner was very sweet.
The Sacrificial Lamb!!! I dont know how this place doesn't have 5 stars. It's a dive but everything we tried was delicious and packed with flavor. Give the goat curry a go. Good naan and butter chicken as well. Staff is super nice, and the food was solid both for dine-in and take-out.
Worst experience ever!
My favorite butter chicken in town
